How to prepare for ISSB Psychological Tests

How to prepare for ISSB?
Actually, Call Letter is issued approximately 1.5 months after you submit the ISSB forms to your relevant centers. It may come earlier in 20 days and may take up to 3 months depending upon the candidate's verification by GHQ  and ISSB centers.

What is required?
ISSB is 4-5 days test from testing your physical abilities and knowledge to your intellectual abilities, creativity, and confidence.
You need to be prepared for all these abilities by working hard on yourself. There are two options available to you.
  1.  Preparation from the academy.
  2. Preparation by yourself.
Preparation from academy
If you can afford an academy for your preparation then it's a better option for you. You are exposed to different tests which test your knowledge as well as prepare you for physical tests such as obstacles and different command tasks that are taken by GTO's during your ISSB visit. Academy prepares 90% of the tests you face in ISSB. Remaining 10% is how you work out your 90% preparation to pass 100%. Your mind may be manipulated but you are the one who will face all the situations practically. So you have to be wise in your decisions. As you are prepared from the academy so you will be doing more than others and you will be in the notice. So you have to justify yourself how you have prepared for ISSB, that's the remaining 10 % which plays a very important role in selection.
Preparation by yourself
Preparing by yourself is also a way to analyze yourself critically. I have seen candidates preparing all by themselves without any academy and got recommended. I know a friend of fine who did the same.
 What's the strategy?
First of all, you have to divide the tasks.
There are three different portions you can divide your task into.
      1- Psychological Tests
Psychological test is the most important test in ISSB which test your personality. There are several tests for that which are described as below
  • WAT (Word Association Test)
Word association test is a test in which candidates are required to make sentences of words, which makes some kind of sense and which are complete in its meanings.
For example:
Luck: Luck is with brave
Angry: Get angry when required
Haste: Haste at a time is unavoidable.

There are total of 100 words which come on a screen after 10-15 seconds of interval. In such a short span, you can't write sentences which you remember in normal time unless you have a lot of practice.
I have seen that this part of the psychological test is very important for a recommendation. I would suggest you to complete a minimum of 80 and a maximum of 100 (all if possible).
You can prepare this by searching WAT samples from online sources and practice them daily by keeping the timer on.
I would suggest you to write what sentence comes in your mind without wasting time and then analyze what could be done better.
Here are my solved WAT resource, you can also take help from these links mentioned below
    •     Sentence Completion Test
Sentence Completion is the second most important test. In this, there are a total of 4 sets, 2 sets of Urdu, and 2 sets of English.
Each set consists of 26 incomplete sentences.
    • Total 94 = 4 sets 26 incomplete sentences
    • Time duration = 6 minutes for each of 4 sets (6 minutes to complete 26 sentences)

    Strategy

6 minutes are enough to complete 26 incomplete sentences. You need to practice this with the same strategy as I explained for WAT above. Take out your pen and paper. Search online for samples (not for solution), or if you have notes from friends, put them in front of you and set the time duration to 6 min on the stopwatch, and write on paper what exactly comes in your mind and try to complete 20 minimum and if possible try to complete all the sentences and then analyze and compare what you have written and what's the solution of others. It is not necessary that it should be exactly the same, but the sentence should give proper meaning.
    For Example:
    1. The best part of my life     has been spent on education
    2. His mind is                                sharp
    3. By nature he is                     humble

You can search on the internet, there are many samples available but here are one of those I prepared from
Practice both Urdu as well as English to improve your ability to quickly solve those sentences during ISSB.
    • Thematic appreciation Test
Thematic appreciation test involves pictures that are ambiguous and blurred to analyze candidate's  pattern of thoughts, attitudes, and observational compacity. This is also one of the most important ISSB tests.
Here are some points to write Picture Stories during ISSB Tests.
    1. Focus on the picture
    2. See it carefully and critically
    3. See the characters visible and invisible
    4. See their body language
    5. Start writing from the present and end on a positive note
    6. Not more than 5-6 lines.
    For example:

    Explanation:
"Ahmed is a very competent civil engineer now seeing peaceful sleep at his home. Meanwhile, his father comes into his room and he is in the process of kissing his proud son".
