My PMA Long Course Experience
I applied for PMA 137 Long Course after my intermediate, almost 4 years from now.It was very exciting and wonderful experience.I will try to share each and every possible details i could remember from how i prepared for the initial tests to ISSB tests. The journey initial tests and qualifying for the ISSB was full of experience, ups and downs, passionate struggle and tireless efforts. As many students almost every year pass through this phase,by sharing my experience you will get a road map of complete journey.I will try to make you time valuable by sharing my valuable experience and make this article worth reading.
Phase 1: Registration
I would encourage you all to visit websites one time a week. These websites announce their courses and details where you can register online and wait for the status to approve. It takes almost 3 weeks to approve the application.Below are the websites you should keep an aye on
- To register for Pakistan Army visit this link
- To register for Navy visit this link
- To register for Air Force visit this link
However i will not go into details, i registered manually, you can register online to save time.
Phase 2: Initial Computerized Test
After registration ASRC RWP called me for the initial test.To be honest i didn't prepare for the initial test except intelligence test portion as i had better academic record which provided me confidence before test. Alhamdolilah i cleared the initial test portion and called for the physical test next day.
Phase 3: Physical Test
Physical test is quite tough phase. In this phase, physical as well as mental ability of candidate is tested. In this test candidate has to run almost 1.6 Km in 8 min for PMA Long Course and 9 min for Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) and for female candidates time is 14 min for 1.6 Km.This phase is a challenging phase for candidates as they have to keep account of the time factor and in parallel they have to maintain their stamina level to be successful in this long run.I was called at 5 a.m in morning by ASRC RWP and i appeared in time.Although they can wait up to 7.30 a.m for the candidate who comes from far places. As far as my experience this phase was not so difficult for me.I reached in almost exact time and crossed the finish line although i was exhausted and my throat was dry.Almost 20 candidates out of 140 could not reach in time and army men asked them to prepare well for one more week and come again, but this is conditional. They may recall candidates to come after one or two week if they take tests for other candidates in those 2 weeks otherwise they don't give time so be prepared well. After running we were called to line up for the Push Ups.After running for almost 2 Km,this phase became very easy for me.As my body was warm.Total push ups are 10 - 15 .Almost everybody passed this phase. After that army men called us to get ready for the Sit Ups.For the sit ups we were asked to make two row in front of each other and our legs were supported by other member who is facing us and we do sit ups.Total sit ups were almost 10-15.This was also not much difficult for me and i passed easily. After that a little difficult portion comes which is Chin Ups.This phase needs practice for those who are healthy. In this phase almost 10 people were recalled on given dates as they could not qualify this round. In this round candidates are asked to do 3-5 chin ups.I did it very easily as i'm smart and have less weight as per as height.
What i would suggest to candidates, practice almost for one week for students who are involved in any extra curricular activities especially cricket and those guys who are healthy and not much active in sports should practice hard for this phase for almost 3 week regular jogging .Because this phase becomes a challenge for such candidates.
As far as my experience candidate should start normally like jogging initially and gradually increase speed.Gaining speed from start can be challenging in the end as candidate may fall short of breadth but it is not a big matter for those who are regular player of football or hockey or any sports. They can easily chase that target in required time.
Phase 3: Medical Test
After passing physical test i was called for medical test in ASRC RWP next day.I appeared for the test. This phase was quite long.It started in the morning and ended in evening. In this phase different tests are conducted by a medical doctor. These tests include eye sight test (required is 6/6 with and without glasses),weight test(weight are tested according BMI calculator). You can test your body mass online by using this calculator, height, knee knocking, elbow test (to check hyper extension elbow or wide elbow angle required angle is 15 degree),foot and legs (in order to check leg and feet injury),chest (in order to check chest deformity),nose( for DNS left or right), and backbone (Kyphosis), also chest measurements(chest is measured according to height and wight). These are the tests that were conducted externally. After that lower portion was tested by medical doctor in a separate room. Alhamdolilah i passed all the tests and was called for the interview after 2 or three days.
Phase 4: Initial Interview
I appeared for the interview on the called date.I will try to mention all the questions which i could remember.
I entered in the room. There was panel of 5 Army men to interview me.
